When should I start fertility acupuncture?
When you are trying to conceive without any reproductive technology, it’s best to come in when you have been struggling for a little while. Most doctors will say, come back in a year if you have not conceived yet. And if you are over 35, that changes to come back in 6 months. But, I say, if you have been struggling, come in during those first 6 months so that if there are small adjustments or shifts to make, we can learn, solve, and work together on them. There is a lot of empowerment in this space instead of just waiting and seeing. So if you have been struggling to conceive, now is the time for acupuncture.
If you are doing an IVF cycle, I see a lot of benefits coming in about three months before an egg retrieval. And the research shows that those three months are pretty beneficial as well. The reason for that is- we know that folliculogenesis (which means the final stages of development of the egg) begins about three months before that egg is ovulated. So to make tangible differences, earlier care is better. And in the meantime, we are working on the rest of your health as well. The shows that egg quality and fertilization rates can be improved upon with acupuncture. Sometimes I don’t catch people before an egg retrieval. Sometimes I just see them before their transfers. Acupuncture has been shown to support and increase clinical rates of pregnancy. So even if I am just catching you before the transfer, don’t worry. We can still lend a supportive arm.
Acupuncture offers a holistic and natural solution to supporting your fertility & reproductive health as well as pregnancy & postpartum support.
