Why I’m Expanding My Practice to Support Perimenopause and Menopause
For many years, much of my work has focused on supporting fertility, cycles, and pregnancy. But hormones do not stop being important after conception or childbirth. In fact, they continue to shape our health throughout our entire lives.
Lately, I’ve been expanding my work to support patients navigating perimenopause and menopause — a transition that can bring significant physical and emotional changes, yet is often misunderstood or under-supported.
Perimenopause is the phase leading up to menopause, and it can begin much earlier than many people expect — sometimes in the late 30s or early 40s. During this time, hormones fluctuate in complex ways as the body gradually transitions out of its reproductive years.
Common symptoms can include:
Irregular or changing menstrual cycles
Sleep disruption
Anxiety or mood changes
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
Hot flashes or night sweats
Changes in energy and metabolism
Heavier or more unpredictable bleeding
These experiences are incredibly common, but that doesn’t mean people should simply “push through” them without support.
This is where acupuncture and Chinese medicine can offer a meaningful approach.
Rather than focusing on a single symptom, Chinese medicine looks at the broader patterns happening in the body — how the nervous system is functioning, how sleep is regulated, how blood and fluids circulate, and how the body adapts to hormonal shifts over time.
In clinical practice, acupuncture may help support:
Nervous system regulation and stress resilience
Sleep quality
Circulation and temperature regulation
Hormonal balance during cycle changes
Emotional well-being during major life transitions
What I find particularly meaningful about working in this stage of life is that it represents another important hormonal chapter, much like puberty or pregnancy. The body is reorganizing itself, and with the right support, many people can move through this transition with far more ease than they expect.
In my practice in Doylestown, PA, I work with patients across many hormonal stages — from fertility and pregnancy to perimenopause and menopause care. Each phase of life brings its own challenges, but also an opportunity to better understand and support the body.
If you are beginning to notice changes in your cycles, sleep, mood, or energy, these shifts may be part of the natural transition toward menopause. Acupuncture can be one gentle way to support your body during this time.
Acupuncture offers a holistic and natural solution to supporting your fertility & reproductive health as well as pregnancy & postpartum support.
