Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Yes, acupuncture is generally safe during pregnancy when performed by a trained and experienced practitioner.

In pregnancy, treatments are adapted to each stage and focus on gentle, supportive care. I also have advanced certification (9 additional months on top of my Master’s Degree of four years) specific to perinatal care. This is not a common experience level for most acupuncturists and I chose to study advanced maternal care because so many of my fertility patients wanted to continue care once they conceived.

Your treatment is always tailored to what is safe and appropriate for both you and your baby. Acupuncture is often used to help with common pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, pain, sleep disturbances, and stress, and can also be supportive as you prepare for labor.

If you have any specific concerns or a higher-risk pregnancy, we can talk through your history and coordinate care so you feel comfortable and fully supported.
